INTERNATIONAL KLEZMER SENSATION!
Translated as “The non-Jews” Di Gojim is an ensemble of six musicians based out of Holland. They combine the artistry of Western classical music and the power of the East European ethnic and Jewish tradition. The musicians come from different musical backgrounds, including jazz, folk, classics and brass. Well known throughout Europe, Di Gojim is one of the leaders in today’s Klezmer revival.
Founded in 1988, the group’s distinctive brand of Yiddish vocal and instrumental music in a theatrical setting has captivated audiences throughout Europe and in other parts of the world. Di Gojim’s performance at the International Klezmer Festival of Sefad, Israel, has brought critical acclaim. The city was besieged by the most outstanding klezmer musicians of Israel. Among them Di Gojim was rated as the best klezmer orchestra of the entire festival thanks to their innovative and astonishing theatrical performance.
In New York City the band played at the Eldridge Street Project of Yale Strom. Di Gojim was the only ensemble from abroad, so it was a huge compliment to play there. Press and public loved them.

Ilana Eliya at the White Stork Synagogue on 4 July, 2010 at 5pm
Ilana Eliya was born in Israel as the daughter of émigrés from Kurdistan from a tribe that did not allow women to sing. Her father was a cantor who assembled an invaluable collection of songs from Kurdistan.
Ilana’s voice was remarkable even as a child. It was not until her father’s death, however, that she began to sing in public. Ilana Eliya’s repertoire includes unique and seldom-heard Kurdish songs, both old and contemporary. She has also been inspired by the music of the Arab world and Andalusia.
Her first record, “Jabalio” came out in 1993 and immediately attracted a large audience of music lovers from within the Kurdish community and throughout Israel. She has performed all over the world.
Concert in cooperation with Jewish Culture Festival Society in Kraków.
